So...this hit me the other day...I'm technically a professional Christian now. I'm (hopefully) sooned to be hired by CRU, that will make it official, but my job is to love Jesus and share him with others.
BUT, this also means I have to share my some of walk with the Lord with others as well.....This is where it gets scary and personal.... I'm making phone calls, writing letters, trying to meet with people, and the whole time I have the feeling like I'm standing in my underwear in the middle of Times Square in NYC. It's humbling, but Satan tries to make it humiliating...at least for me. The idea is that I'm raising money for the Lord to then go and serve. That sounds beautiful. But, how it is in real broken life, is beautiful mess.
I call, fumble through a conversation somehow, get an apt or not, share, fall on my knees to pray, maybe get a new partner, maybe not... I'm putting my future hopes, dreams, ambitions in the hands of the Lord that He will lead me to the right people, those who love and give with reckless abandon. I've never felt so fragile or vulnerable in my life which leaves all the more room for Jesus to come in and work his miracles.
Becoming a profession Christian requires a balance. I'm learning that this process is not personal, it's business (quote that movie). I try and make it as personal as I can without getting my emotions so involved. It's not touchy feely, it is factual. There are students in Paris who have NO CLUE who Jesus is or why He came. They are an unreached people group, and I need the church to send me.
That's it. And if I have to do that by awkwardly calling people, sending letters, sharing my heart, then that's what I have to do. It's hard, but I pray there will be mountains of blessing flowing over my team that sends me. That their hearts will be transformed by the awesomeness of Jesus and giving to his ultimate ministry.
I'm going to Paris to help bring students back to Jesus, and ultimately to help bring Jesus back to all of us.
Off to make more awkward phone calls- have grace if I call you :) I know I'm awkward.
Blessings,
Heather
