This weird phenomia happens at some point in every Christians life...the phenomina of having it all together.
I have Jesus so I'm going to have it all together- then come the lies- because if I don't that might point to Him not fullfilling blank and blank promises like his goodness, faithfulness, constancy, power. Who. Knows.
But, it happens. All the time. We recognize it, try and fix it, then it just rears it's ugly head again.
Having it all together. It's out goal. But, should it be?
Having it all together means that life is perfect, there are no problems, I have everything under control and life is going smoothly. I don't have to try.
I don't have to try...mmm..isn't the Christian life all about trying? Trying to live like Jesus?
If we're having it all together that means that somewhere along the line we've become complacent with our sin becuase you and I both know it is a fight to live like Jesus. I am far-FAR from perfect and it's a daily struggle to think like Jesus, act like Jesus, and love as Jesus loved.
I do NOT have it all together. I never want to live in an appearance I have it all together. I want to live in the appearance that God has it all together so sure this that or the other thing doesn't work out, but God has it under control so I'm not going to freak out. I want to live in faith and trusting a faithful God.
This all stems from my beginning Ezekiel today. Ezekiel has a vision and he is IN the presence of the Lord when the Lord commissions him to the Isrealites who are rebelling in Babylon. Well, the chapter ends with the sentence, "and I sat there overwhelmed among them for seven days." People, the great prophet Ezekiel sat in one place for seven days OVERWHELMED by what the Lord called him to do. This man did NOT have it all together. But, when the Lord called him to Arise, he arose and trusted.
I'm learning that sometimes, you just have to sit. I don't know what Ezekiel was thinking for those seven days, but as someone who is being called to raise a seemingly impossible amount of money in three months. I can relate, I mean maybe just a little. I know what I would be doing, I'd be fighting it out within myself if I really trusted the call, if I really trusted the Lord in everything. Because if I didn't, I would have no business stepping out in faith.
But here I am, stepping out in faith. The Lord is providing for the givers and to the receiver whose faith is a battle right now. Yet, it's a blessing all around.
Finding Joy...
