The phrase hindsight is 20/20 has stuck itself in my head recently. I've been mulling on it. I mean how could I not, as the end is quickly approaching, and I feel like my desire to process is all consuming.
Anyways, I was on the bus the other day. I've been pretty consistently riding the bus, at least to and from campus, since the late fall. It's just so direct compared to the metro. Plus, perk, it's above ground, there's no musty smell, there's no urine smell, and it's filled with the precious french elderly. So, I get to witness the side of the French I love, and that is how they care for their elderly. But, I digress.
I'm a person of habit until I'm comfortable, then I branch out. So, I've always, for the most part, stayed toward the front of the bus, or in the standing section. But, the other day, I ventured to the back, and found backwards facing seats. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal. Until, I decided to sit in said backwards facing seats. My experience going home was completely different.
I got to watch the wonders of the city even longer then when I face forward. Nothing wizzes by. Everything is slower, I was able to really look at tiny landmarks and nuances that normally are just there and gone.
And it strikes me. This is hindsight.
Right now, I'm in the forward facing seats of STINT life. Everything is whizzing past me, and I can hardly pick one thing to focus on before it's whipped away, and we're onto the next thing.
So, I'm excited to switch and sit looking backwards. I'm excited for a year from today. To look at my year from the outside, and see what in the world God was doing at times.
